How much sandstone will I need?

Approximate square footage per tonnage
Patio stone is 80 to 100 sq feet per ton.
Select Thin 140 to 180 sq feet per ton.
Select Regular 120 to 140 sq feet per ton.
Select 2" 70 - 100 sq feet per ton.
Strip Veneer 45 sq feet per ton.

What is Sandstone?

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock comprised of cemented sand sized rock grains. The most common colors are tan, brown, yellow, red, pink and white. Northern Arizona is well known for its vivid red sandstone formations.

Resistant to weathering?

Northern Arizona Sandstone is resistant to weathering. Sandstone is used in many outdoor and indoor building projects. It conforms to ASTM C515-85 Sandstone Building Stone, tech specs are Resistance to abrasions averages 11 Conforms to Type II Quartzitic Sandstone except Specific gravity is 140 lbs.
Sandstone typically weighs approximately 12 lbs per inch of thickness, per square foot.
Sandstone typically can absorb 3% of its weight in moisture if not sealed.

Do you deliver the stone that you sell?

Our sandstone from northern Arizona all over the continental US. The cost of delivery depends on your location. Call to discuss your options.

How do you sell your stone?

Irregular stone is sold by weight in pounds or tons.

Cut Stone is sold by the square foot and lineal foot - depending on the intended use such as tiles, pool coping, etc.

For floor surfaces you will need to know the square footage of the area to be covered. (length x width)

If you are building a stacked stone wall, you will need the cubic footage. (height x width x depth)

We may recommend an extra amount to allow for all contingencies.

Do you install?

No, but we may be able to recommend local contractors in your area that can help you with your project.

Stonework can be for the do-it-yourselfer.

Can I cut sandstone?

You can cut your own sandstone. Smaller pieces can be cut using a tile saw, while larger pieces can be cut by using a power saw and with the proper equipment including safety clothing and eye wear. Check with your local tool rental yard, they may have just what you need.
